Fibre Optic Cabling

Fibre Optic cables are now an essential part of Wide area and Local area networks. The major benefit of fibre is its ability to transmit data over large distances. Systems-Supported offer a full installation service of both multi-mode and single-mode fibre products.

Optical fibres are widely used in fibre-optic communication, which permits transmission over longer distances and at higher data rates than other forms of communications. Fibres are used instead of metal wires because signals travel along them with less loss, and they are immune to electromagnetic interference. Joining lengths of optical fibre is more complex than joining electrical wire or cable. The ends of the fibres must be carefully cleaved, and then spliced together either mechanically or by fusing them together with an electric arc. Special connectors are used to make removable connections.
